The television has multiple genres to fill air time dedicated to shows. Early on in television history, soap operas, news, games shows, mysteries, and comedies ruled the airwaves. In the 1950s, reality shows became increasingly popular, however, in the new millennium, the reality shows are a huge ratings draw.

A reality series became to be in the 1950s and grew to huge success in the late 1990s to early 2000s. The biggest draw is Big Brother, Survivor, and The Amazing Race. Currently, Sim Brother, which is exactly like Big Brother, which will be airing in the Summer 2011.

A Soap Opera is a daytime or primetime show that is filled suspence and drama.
